QUICKIE: If you’ve been trying out the Photoshop CS6 beta preview you may have noticed the new Cropping behavior. (I won’t get into details about the new behavior as you can find that in so many other places.) If you find this new cropping behavior unwieldy you can go back to the way things were. You might have poked around in Preferences to find this feature, but it’s not there.
To regain the old cropping behavior in Photoshop CS6: open a new image, select the Cropping Tool and then, in the Options Bar, find the Gear icon. This icon represents the settings for the Crop Tool. Open it and select “Use Classic Mode“. That’s it.
Thank you! I hate the new behavior. Why do they have to change random stuff like this?
Still doesn’t work like CS5.1. No resolution settings and doesn’t save like CS5.1. I read some where that if you were a cloud member you can get the patch to make it work like CS5.1. I have spent thousands over the years on this and other products from Adobe now I have to spend more to get what should have never changed. Oh my. Now I know what Final Cut users are feeling! Going back to CS5.1.
Bullshit, this “classic” mode still doesn’t allow free placement of new crop borders on left click, it rotates existing ones instead.
Suggestion: if you want a lo-fi work around select crop region with rectangular marquee , then go to Image->Crop
